Father's name Tong Ting-shu 唐廷枢, better known as "Tong King Sing" 唐景星, who was a former schoolmate of Yung Wing at the Morrision Education Society School in Hong Kong, where he was registered as "Ah-chick." He was one of the most distinguished pioneer entrepreneurs working with Li Hongzhang in numerous industrial projects.
